Tom Hall
With over 35 years of industry experience, Tom Hall brings deep expertise and a strong track record to UCL Swift.
His career began as a Communications Specialist in the U.S. Army, followed by multiple civilian positions, including Maintenance Supervisor, Technical Trainer, Support Manager and Project Manager. This hands-on experience uniquely positions him to support UCL Swift's broadband growth strategy.
Tom is adept at communicating how our fusion splicers, connectors, MSTs and cable can be seamlessly integrated into both greenfield and brownfield FTTH projects, delivering real value and performance to our partners.

AI and the Future of Fiber Optics AI technology is progressing at an increasingly rapid rate, shifting the way business is done and information is processed. The fiber optic field is no different and will see many changes as AI continues to become more prevalent. Here are a few ways that fiber optics will be affected by the rise of AI: AI efficiency is largely dependent on fiber optics quality. As AI evolves at an exponential rate, it is crucial that fiber remains a competitive market. This includes everything from research and development to mass production and dispersion of new and improved products.The ultra-fast data exchange provided by fiber optic cables supports demanding applications such as cloud computing and AI integrations. Fiber optics cables are used for these server-to-server connections, especially for high-performance computing clusters and storage networks within data centers.The continual demand that comes with AI is creating new jobs, causing rapid workplace growth. However, this growing workforce means nothing if people don’t know how to complete the tasks presented to them with both competency and efficiency. This means hands-on training has never been more needed. AI is only as effective as the real people working in the fiber optics industry, and proactively seeking ways to bring more technicians into the field will be a way to stay ahead of the game.With AI holding such an important role in the future of industrial development, fiber optics holds the same level of importance because of AI’s dependence on it to function successfully. By preparing the next generation of technicians, we’re ensuring the broadband market has the skilled talent required to grow and innovate. UCL Swift simplifies fiber optic drop cable installation, reducing costs and improving network reliability. We are the only manufacturer of hardened OptiTap®-style connectors that can be fusion spliced in the field using our KF4A-HDC or K33A-HDC splicers. This allows technicians to create exact-length drop cables on-site, cutting waste, minimizing inventory, and avoiding costly callbacks due to bad connections.Field-spliced connectors also enable ISPs and MSOs to use bulk cable, reducing exposure to environmental damage and eliminating issues with coiled cable in vaults. Unlike pre-terminated assemblies, which can have failure rates exceeding 10%, our solution allows quick, easy repairs in the field by simply splicing on a new connetcor.
